In the United States, today is a federal holiday. It is President’s Day. It originally was to celebrate George Washington’s birthday, but became a day we celebrate all Presidents. Or, so I am told.

My office does not get President’s Day off. I work in a law office. It is unfortunate that we don’t take the day off because the courts are closed, the post office is closed, and the counties are closed. We are basically dead in the water the entire day. That being said, there isn’t a lack of work. I get it, but I also despise working on a day that I can’t file anything or mail anything. I also despise working when my city government employed husband has the day off. More and more places of employment do not give President’s Day off as a holiday anymore, so I just have to be disappointed.

BTS Bracelet Update. I FINISHED! I am done making bracelets. That was an undertaking, but I’m done. The last member’s bracelets came out really good. I love SUGA.

Aruba Update. My husband and I finished packing already! LOL. We still have 12 days until embarkation day. I am so excited.

Winter Olympics. Have you been watching the Winter Olympics? To be honest, I’ve been watching curling and hockey. The rest has just been background noise while I work. What are your favorite events? Team USA men and women’s hockey have been stellar. Really great games. I hope to see them against Canada in the gold medal match.

  1. Yeah, “Holidays” are weird in the US. In the US what we call holidays are really just days that government offices are closed. Regardless of what day it is (Christmas, New Years, Memorial day) most people still have to work. In other developed nations when they say holiday the mean HOLIDAY! As in everything is closed, Everyone gets the day off. It’s a celebration for everyone. I was in Germany during a minor holiday, and there wasn’t anything open. Period! Me and my sister were kind of annoyed that we couldn’t go out to a restaurant, but now that I look back on it, I realized that the restaurant owners would want to celebrate too. That everyone deserves to celebrate.

    1. I really dislike how they’re optional. If you’re going to close federal services, everything else should closed, too!
